Professor Sir Brian Clarke (2 July 1953 – 1 July 2025)

I am deeply sad to report the death of Professor Sir Brian Clarke, Executor and Chairman of The Estate of Francis Bacon, on Tuesday 1 July 2025. He was Britain’s leading modern stained-glass artist and a talented painter and sculptor.

His artist’s insight played a vital part in the creation of the Francis Bacon MB Art Foundation, and his unreserved support and precious advice were essential in placing it on a secure footing.

He will be deeply missed by all of us at the Bacon Foundation.
