Photographs

The MB Art Collection’s photographic archive has been added to over the years. It now comprises more than 800 photographs of Francis Bacon and his studios taken by over ninety different photographers, including unique unpublished images, paint-spattered images from Bacon’s various studios, and contact sheets. The archive contains both prints of portraits by great photographers and rarely-seen snapshots taken by his circle of friends, his family and his lovers. It spans the period from the 1920s to the early 1990s and is the largest collection of Francis Bacon-related photographs in existence.
