The Francis Bacon MB Art Foundation is taking part in the third artmonte-carlo fair, being held at the Grimaldi Forum from 28 to 29 April 2018.

For this occasion, the Foundation is presenting a series of photographs of Francis Bacon by Edward Quinn from its collection (MB Art Collection).

Edward Quinn, an Irish photographer who lived in Monaco and on the French Riviera, is known for having photographed celebrities from the world of art, politics, aristocracy and show business, who came and stayed on the French Riviera from the 1950s.

After having worked with Picasso for more than twenty years, he initiated close collaboration with other artists among them Francis Bacon.

In 1978, Edward Quinn took photographs of the British painter in his Reece Mews flat in London followed by numerous other photo sessions, notably in the artist’s London and Parisian studios or at the Marlborough Gallery in London.

The photographs of Bacon by Edward Quinn reflect a certain complicity between the two men.
